The Romanian band Transylvania Damn Fun has recently announced their debut album release – “Mr. Vlad”. Guys have worked on it for almost 2 years. The official date of release is February 14th 2017.Looking back in history, we remind you that the band was formed in 2013 on Bukovina.

According to the band’s leaders Vlad Damian and Constantine Zgomot Transylvania Damn Fun has created a new, extraordinary sounding. The Transylvanian music as they put it is a unique combination of Romanian folk rhythms and modern beats accompanied with a stunning show on the stage. Before the first album release, the musicians have tested their experiment on different stages in most of European countries. As Constantine Zgomot noticed: “Every new appearance on the stage was a kind of test for us as no one knew how the audience would react to this direction”.

We recall that Transylvania Damn Fun was a sensation at the most popular festivals of Europe in 2016 like: Bestival, Boomtown, Lowland, Maui Waui . In several months, the social networks were crowded with questions about the origin of the bandleaders and character of the Transylvanian motives.

The “Mr. Vlad” album, as well as the song of the same name included in it, is dedicated to a legendary figure of Vlad Tsepesh, a famous Romanian prince and voevode. Many other songs included in the album are based on motives and melodies of Romanian folk music. As the frontman Vlad Damian commented: “We do this to pay tribute to our culture and demonstrate the greatness and the unique character of Transylvanian folk arts to the whole world”. There are songs in English, Hungarian, German, French and even Italian in the debut album of Transylvania Damn Fun.

Now, the guys from Transylvania Damn Fun are working hard on their debut music video, which is going to be released in the end of February. They also plan their world tour, which will start in the summer this year.

The guys are going to visit some big cities in Romania too and they invite all people who want to witness the uniqueness and explosive danger of the Transylvanian rhythms. Transylvania - "DamnFun".

The Romanian band Transylvania Damn Fun has recently announced their debut album release – “Mr. Vlad”. Guys have worked on it for almost 2 years. The official date of release is February 14th 2017.Looking back in history, we remind you that the band was formed in 2014 on Bukovina. Our edition presents you a brief interview with the band’s frontmen Vlad Damian and Constantine Zgomot in which they told us about gains and pains of the new album’s creation as well as about the prospects of “Transylvania’s” activity for the nearest future.

Interviewer: Vlad, how did you come up with the idea and concept of the band? Why Transylvania Damn Fun?

Vlad Damian: The enigma and mysticism of the historic events in this area have always attracted us.
After the Bram Stoker’s popular gothic novel, most of the world associate Transylvania with devilry and mystical vampirism. But, few people know about the cultural and traditional values of this stunning Carpathian region.
We have known a lot about the culture of Transylvania before starting our project. But, in the course of work, when we digged deeper we were shocked, to be honest. The motives, tunes and rhythms born hundreds of years ago can blow up the show at any stage nowadays. And this has been proved in practice! All we needed to do was to pull them up from the depths of history, blow off the dust of ages and combine them with modern beats, which in my opinion producer and DJ Constantin Zgomot managed to do perfectly.

Interviewer: Constantine, Vlad mentioned that you have tested your music in practice. Tell us more about that?

Constantine: Yes, actually, before our first album release we have tested it on different stages in most of European countries. I must confess that in the beginning of every performance, we felt some fear and uncertainty as it was a new direction, a new tendency: an experiment, to be exact. But, eventually the audience encored us again and again and that was amazing! Unbelievable! Once we played an encore for 4 times or so and we could have played even more if it was not for the festival’s time limit.

Interviewer: Vlad, now let’s discuss your album. First of all, why “Mr. Vlad”? What are the most successful tracks and why?

Vlad Damian: Why “Mr. Vlad”? I’m often asked that kind of question, and especially if it’s connected with me. The answer is “no”. Firstly, the album “Mr.Vlad” as well as the song of the same name are dedicated to the legendary figure of Vlad Tsepesh, which is still mystified and seems creepy to all of us. Secondly, the track “Mr.Vlad” is our first author's work.If we speak about other track, you know, I cannot choose any of them as the best one. We’re an international band and consequently belong to different cultures with differing tastes and views. The reaction to one or another track is differs greatly from stage to stage. One thing I’m sure about is that we don’t have the second quality tracks. Each of them is a smash hit.

Interviewer: Vlad, who composes the music and writes lyrics to your tracks? What is the process?

Vlad Damian: Our songs are based on motives and melodies of Romanian folk music. We do this to pay tribute to our culture and demonstrate the greatness and the unique character of Transylvanian folk arts to the whole world. Taking into consideration the fact that this is a multicultural region, we also write songs in many other languages: German, French, Hungarian and so on.Actually, I write lyrics and music. Constantine makes the acoustic backing and guys (the best musicians in Bukovina, by the way) tint it with traditional tunes. From our rehearsal studio, the music goes crude right to the “Transylvania records” studio where Constantine along with other specialists mixes it and upgrades it with the modern beats. The work on one track can last for a month or month and a half.

Interviewer: Constantine, the question for you as to a producer. What are the main goals you set and prospects you have in sight for Transylvania in the nearest future?

Constantine: The Transylvania Damn Fun project has its financial and technical independence for a main object. We have our own sound recording studios, rooms for musical and choreographic rehearsals. Besides, we managed to create a group of fabulous booking and PR managers. In the end of 2016 we launched our own brand label “Transylvania” and release of the “Mr. Vlad” album is actually its first publication. Now, we are working hard on our debut music video, which is going to be released in the end of February.
There’s one thing I’m sure about: Transylvania Damn Fun is something fresh, dangerously explosive and extra-captivating. Come to our concerts, listen to our songs and you will witness it. It will be an unforgettable show; you will catch inimitable rhythms and get a festive mood. It’s going to be damn fun!
